I am bit confused with software versions.
duckietown-shell requires python3.6. I can install it on ubuntu 18.04 but not on ubuntu 16.04, there is python3.5 by default.
ROS kinetic is available for ubuntu 16.04 but not for ubuntu 18.04.
Which versions are expected to work?
Hi Aarne – these problems are basically what containerization solves for us. We require python 3.7 for the duckietown-shell but everything else (ROS) is run in containers. Specifically, at present it is built from Ubuntu 16.04 images with ROS kinetic. However, if you install melodic with 18.04 natively on your laptop things should also work please let us know if something does not work.
